Model Diary:Mecha Collection Sv-262Ba Draken III (Bogue Con-Vaart unit) review

Jan 12

Hi, I'm Hiro and before we get into the topic I just want to say....this is my first ever article review that I try to write in full English. So bear with me, and feel free to bully my English.
So today we're gonna look at the Mecha Collection Sv-262Ba Draken III Bogue unit from Macross Δ animated series.
This one is number 9 in the line. From the image above you can see a nice illustration work and basic info about the VF itself. If you got one of these before you know the box is pretty small. One thing that I like about this line is, the price tag is pretty low. It cost only 500 yen each, so it's easy to collect'em all :)

 Side of the box
You can see the runners preview and a photo of straight out of the box unpainted kit looks like.
They show the unpainted photo in all macross kit but I'm not sure the others mecha colle line does this or not.

 Content
You get all the runners and a sheet of stickers all packed in one bag.

Yes, you don't get any separate instruction booklet or something, the building instruction and others information are all printed inside the box.

Lets look at the runners that we get. As you'll expect, we don't get a lot.
A1 and A3 runner are molded in like a blue green color while B runner are molded in silver.
You might be wondering why there's no A2 runner...because A2 runner are specific for the Sv-262Hs Keith Unit.
So 2/3 runners in thi kit are recycled from Keith unit, the only new parts that's are specific for the Sv-262Ba are the A3 runner.

 Lastly is the sticker sheet
Oh that silver stickers are much more shiny than I expected.

Straight build with some panel lining added on. The build is very simple and it takes just a few minutes to finish it.
Without the stickers it looks very plain out of the box.

The under side of the VF
You get a plug to cover the hole that use for the mini stand that included in this kit. But I swear no one will ever use that plug because 99% of the time this kit will be on the display stand.

OOB with stickers apply and it looks so much better!
The silver stickers doesn't look all that bad actually, it looks good when the light hits the stickers. But the stickers just won't sit flat on the raised surfaces....that's just the way it is.

Quick comparison with the Keith Draken III
As you can see the design difference between the two are the nose cone and the wings. And the markings make the two looks extremely different as well.
The stickers on the Keith Draken III looks very bad compared to the Bogue unit.

Besides the display base that this kit include, you can also put this kit on other display base too

Btw, they only gave you the stickers only for the front side of the jet so there's nothing on the bottom side. Not really a complain because who's gonna look at the bottom of your jet all that often?

So yeah, that's all about this kit.
Not really much to talk about since this kit is very simple to begin with. It's a kit that takes you just a few minutes to build and you'll end up with a nice looking mini jet. And the price tag is friendly too, if you want you can probably collect'em all~

If you like this kind of review I'll do more in the future, I still haven't review my 1/72 scale Keith Draken III yet...so it will be my next review in 2017.

Thanks for reading :D
